Overview

Hunza Valley, situated in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, is a mesmerizing destination for a summer retreat. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, the valley features snow-capped mountains, lush green terraced fields, and crystal-clear rivers. During the summer, the weather is pleasantly warm, making it the perfect time to explore the region’s natural beauty. The entire Hunza Valley is celebrated for its stunning scenery, rich cultural heritage, ancient monuments, adventurous landscapes, organic cuisine, and, most notably, the unmatched hospitality of its people.

Nestled against the backdrop of rocky and snow-covered mountain peaks along the ancient Silk Route, Hunza Valley is one of the most exotic places in Pakistan. It offers unique landscapes with spectacular views of towering peaks such as the 7,788-meter Rakaposhi, 7,257-meter Diran Peak, and 7,027-meter Spantik, as well as the majestic Ultar Sar, Hunza Peak, and Lady Finger Peak. These impressive mountains, along with key landmarks, make Hunza one of Pakistan’s top tourist destinations.

Among the valley’s key attractions are the 800-year-old Baltit Fort, perched on a cliff with a commanding view of the Hunza and Nagar Valleys, originally built for defense, and the 900-year-old Altit Fort, dramatically positioned on the edge of a rock rising from the Hunza River.

The 100-kilometer stretch of the Karakoram Highway from Gilgit to Hunza, running parallel to the Hunza River, is lined with historical monuments, picturesque valleys, and snow-capped peaks, offering some of the most scenic views in the world. This highway is often regarded as one of the best in the world.

The journey from Hunza to Khunjerab, spanning about 180 kilometers and taking approximately three hours, is equally captivating. Along the way, key attractions include Haldikish, Attabad Lake, Ondra Poyga Trail, Hussaini Suspension Bridge, Borith Lake, Passu Glacier, Passu Cones, and various small valleys, pastures, mountains, glaciers, and the rushing Hunza River, which originates in the Khunjerab National Park, home to some of Pakistan’s rare wildlife.
