The journey starting from Skardu branches out to two major gorges of Baltistan – Shigar, and Khaplu – once remained princely states, are now major tourist attractions and doorstep to the hub of mighty mountains. The journey making way through Shigar valley leads to Concordia which is surrounded by the world’s highest mountains, including K-2 and Broad Peak, along the Baltoro Glacier while the path running through Khaplu leads to Mashabrum and K-6& K-7 base camp. However, there is a meeting point at 5,650m high Gondogoro La which can be crossed from both sides.
The way to K6 & K7 base camp from Spangler is known as climbers’ paradise. A multitude of average height peaks and unclimbed granite rocks overshadowing the entire trekking route along the glacier leads to the major stretch-making base camp of K6 & K7. There is alternate access from Kande, halfway up Hushe valley, to K6/K7 BC. These sheer rocky cliffs are no less charming than any 8000er. On your way back you will be taking up yet another joyous journey to the base camp of Mashabrum via Gondogoro Pass. You will be doing three treks in one go. However, you have the option of taking any two or even one trek depending on your interest and the number of days available. This trek will really test your ability and stamina
