Overview

A tour from Islamabad to the stunning Hunza and Naltar valleys offers an unforgettable experience of Pakistan’s northern beauty. Starting from Islamabad, the journey typically follows the Karakoram Highway or the Naran-Gilgit road via Babusar Pass. The Karakorum highway is regarded as the eighth wonder of the world for the engineering feat while the Naran-Gilgit road is often considered one of the most scenic drives. Along the way, travelers pass through picturesque towns like Chilas and Gilgit, with the mighty peaks of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges and key landmarks along the route.

Naltar Valley, just an hours’ drive from Gilgit, is famous for its emerald lakes, pine forests, and skiing in winter. The vibrant colors of Naltar’s lakes, especially the blue and green hues of Bashkiri Lakes, are mesmerizing. The valley is less commercialized, offering a peaceful retreat amidst nature. Whether you’re trekking in the lush meadows or simply enjoying the tranquility, the beauty of Naltar is bound to leave a lasting impression. This tour combines adventure, culture, and natural wonders, making it one of the best travel experiences in Pakistan’s northern regions.

The drive to the Hunza Valley provides breathtaking vistas as the winding roads lead to Hunza Valley; known for its majestic mountains, vibrant orchards, and ancient forts like Baltit and Altit. The valley’s crisp, clean air and serene landscapes set the perfect tone for exploration. The Hunza Valley is home to some of the most iconic peaks in the region, including the Lady Finger and Ultar Sar and provides magnificent views of Rakaposhi, Diran, and Golden Peak. Visitors can hike to vantage points like Eagle’s Nest for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The valley’s rich history and culture are reflected in its villages, where you can interact with the warm and hospitable locals. Karimabad, the main town, offers a blend of modern comforts and traditional charm, with markets selling local handicrafts and cafés offering views that are simply breathtaking. The adventurous drive to the Khunjerab border via Attabad Lake, Gulmit, and Passu valley is a memorable experience.
