The bowl constituting Hunza valley and Nagar valley is separated by the Hunza River originating from Khunjerab at the Pak-China border and flowing all the way to the Arabian Sea as River Indus. The Nagar valley hosts impressive peaks, most of which can only be seen from Hunza, offer magnificent short and medium trekking routes.
The Rush Lake or Rushphari (as locals pronounce) trek is one of the striking treks in Hunza-Nagar leading to the highest alpine lake called the Rush Lake at 4,694 m. The view around Rush Lake with the surrounding mountains like Spantic (Golden Peak 7027m), Mair peak (6824m), Ultra peak (7388m), the summit of Diran (7257m), and Rakaposhi (7788m) is simply outstanding. Even it is possible to sight the summit of K-2 from Rush Lake on a clear day. The downhill walk to Phaiphari is slightly tricky and so is the crossing of Barpu glacier to reach Hamdar camp. The view of the entire glacier and the golden peak from Hamdar is just outstanding.
Patundas is yet another superb hike to the summer pastures of Gulmit at 4200m offering fascinating views of Passu Peak 7284m, Batura Peak 7795m, Shishper 7611m, Dasteghil Sar 7885, Momhil Sar 7343, and Rakaposhi 7788m.
